Choose, ask and talk it through.
The screens use a local test relay with sample answers, so no live AI service or student data appears.

A module tutor that answers from the course.
Verbo is an AI tutor for university modules. A student chooses a degree, a module and a tutor persona. The tutor then answers questions in chat or talks the topic through on a voice call.
The hard part
General chatbots answer from anywhere, which isn't much help when a student needs what their own module teaches. The tutor had to stay inside the course material and still feel like a conversation, in text and in voice.
From a module to an answer
Choose
Pick a degree, then a module, then the tutor you want to study with.
Ask
Type a question. The tutor searches the module first, then streams its answer.
Talk
Start a voice call. The tutor speaks with live captions and listens for your reply.
My part of the project.
- Expo app for iOS and a Next.js web app
- Fastify relay for retrieval-grounded chat and live voice calls
Mobile, web and AI engineering · Talha Manzoor. The product belongs to its owners. This page describes the whole product, not only my part.
What’s in the code
Two apps, one relay
An Expo Router app for iOS and a Next.js web app share one Fastify relay for chat and calls.
Grounded answers
Module material is split and embedded at ingest, and each question retrieves the closest passages before the model replies. The live call uses the same search as a tool.
Live voice
Calls stream audio and captions over a WebSocket, with the reply spoken back as it is generated.
An AI tutor in active development
I, Talha Manzoor, built the iOS app, the web app and the relay. Psychology modules are set up first; other degrees are marked as coming soon. The tutors are fictional personas.
Tools we used.
Based on the code I worked with or my own work on the project. The live product may use different tools today.
