A social app where pets have the profiles.
Petzap gives every pet its own profile. Owners add their pets, show them on a pet map if they choose, post photos and follow other pets. Friends can comment, like and chat.
The hard part
Pet owners want to meet other owners nearby, but most social apps are built around people, not pets. The app had to put pets first in profiles, the map and the feed, while keeping location sharing a per-pet choice.

My part of the project.
- React Native app for iOS and Android
- Node.js and MongoDB API for pets, posts, friends and chat
React Native and Node.js engineering · Talha Manzoor. The product belongs to its owners. This page describes the whole product, not only my part.
What’s in the code
Mobile app
React Native with TypeScript, React Navigation stacks and tabs, Zustand stores persisted to MMKV, and React Hook Form with Zod validation.
Map and media
react-native-maps for the pet map, with image and video posts uploaded as form data.
API and chat
An Express and MongoDB API with JWT auth for pets, posts, comments, likes and friends; PubNub carries chat and push notifications.
A pet social app, end to end
I, Talha Manzoor, built the React Native app and its Node.js API. The pet profiles, map, posts, comments, friends and chat all run in the code. The Network tab and the Gaming shortcut were still placeholders, so they aren’t shown.
Tools we used.
Based on the code I worked with or my own work on the project. The live product may use different tools today.
