Behavioral health app development

Apps for behavioral health practices, from booking to the session.

For psychiatry, therapy and counseling practices that see patients online and in person. Talha worked on this kind of platform at PsychPlus, a US mental health practice, and we build the same flows for you.

The problem

Behavioral health booking has more rules than most: visit types, therapist and prescriber availability, the patient's state and time zone, insurance, and forms that change with each visit. When these live in separate tools, patients drop off before the first session and staff spend their day on the phone.

What we build for behavioral health

  • Online and in-person booking. Patients choose therapy or psychiatry, online or in the office, and a time shown in their own time zone.
  • Intake and screening forms. Pre-visit questions and forms for each visit type, filled out at home so the clinician starts with the history in front of them.
  • Telehealth visits. Video visits through a specialist video service, connected to the appointment and the patient record.
  • Clinician screens. Calendars, session screens and forms for clinicians, made to work on a tablet as well as a desk.
  • Safe, quick app updates. Fixes reach patients' phones quickly, with a careful release process.

What drives the cost

We fix the price after a scoping call. What moves it most for a behavioral health practice:

  • Booking rules. Number of visit types, provider roles, states you work in and insurance checks.
  • Forms. How many intake and screening forms, and whether answers need to flow into your EHR.
  • Telehealth. Using a video service as is, or building it into your own app screens.
  • Clinician tools. A patient-only app is smaller than one with calendars and session screens for your team.
  • Existing systems. How easily your EHR, billing and scheduling tools can be connected.

The price and timeline are fixed in writing after a short scoping call, before any work starts.

How long it takes

The schedule depends on the scope. A first release is usually booking and intake; the rest follows in later rounds.

  1. Map the patient journey. From first contact to the first session: what patients do, what staff do, and where it breaks today.
  2. Clickable screens. You and a few clinicians test the main flows with sample data.
  3. Build and connect. Working screens in short rounds, connected to your scheduling, video and EHR tools.
  4. Test the whole journey. Booking, forms and the visit tested end to end, then released.

HIPAA and patient data

Behavioral health records are among the most sensitive patient data. We build to HIPAA requirements: access by role, audit logs of who opened or changed records, encryption when data is stored and sent, and no patient data in logs, analytics or demos. There is no official HIPAA certification for developers; we build the controls your compliance team asks for and document them, and your organization stays responsible for compliance.

Proof

At PsychPlus, Talha worked on scheduling and rescheduling, pre-check-in and visit-specific forms, patient sessions, provider calendars and fast app updates, as a Senior Software Engineer on their team.

Questions

Have you built mental health software before?

Yes. Talha worked on booking, forms, patient sessions, provider calendars and app releases at PsychPlus, a US psychiatry and therapy practice, as part of their engineering team.

Can patients book therapy and psychiatry in the same app?

Yes. Visit types, provider roles and the rules for each are part of the booking design.

Do you build the video calls yourselves?

No. We connect a specialist video service that will sign the agreements HIPAA requires, and link it to the appointment and the record.

Can you start with what we already have?

Yes. We can fix or extend your current app or portal, or send you two or three quick ideas for your booking and intake, based only on your website, at no cost.
