How much does it cost to build a mobile app in 2026?

What actually drives the price of an iOS and Android app, and how to get a quote you can trust.

Short answer

It depends mostly on four things: how many screens and user roles the app has, whether it needs its own backend, which outside services it connects to, and how polished the first release must be. A focused first version (MVP) with one main flow costs far less than a full product with admin tools, payments and chat. The quickest way to an accurate number is a short written brief and a 30-minute scoping call.

Screens and user roles

Every extra screen needs design, code and testing on both iOS and Android. User roles multiply that: an app for patients and doctors, or customers and drivers, is really two apps that share data. Counting screens per role is the single best predictor of cost.

Backend and data

If you already have an API, the app mainly consumes it. If not, someone has to build the server, database, login and admin panel. Services like Firebase or Supabase can reduce this for simple apps, but complex business rules still need custom backend work.

Integrations

Payments, maps, video calls, push notifications, calendars and AI features each add setup, testing and ongoing cost. Some also have monthly fees of their own. List them early so they are in the estimate, not discovered halfway through.

React Native saves a second codebase

With React Native, one codebase runs on iOS and Android, so most features are built once. You still need testing on both platforms and occasional native code, but it is usually cheaper than two separate native apps.

Costs after launch

Budget for store fees, hosting, monitoring, OS updates, bug fixes and new features after release. An app that is never updated starts breaking as iOS and Android change.

Common questions

Why won’t you give a price on the website?

Because two apps with the same idea can differ a lot in screens, roles and integrations. I would rather give you a real number after a short call than a range that turns out wrong.

Is it cheaper to hire a developer in Pakistan?

Hourly rates are usually lower than in the US or UK. What matters more is clear scope, overlapping hours and good communication, otherwise savings disappear in rework.

What do I need to get a quote?

A short description of who uses the app, the main things they do in it, any designs you have, and the services it must connect to.
